The Dremel, a Hand Carving Must Have – Featured Luthier Tools

Dremels come in all shapes and sizes and are a versatile tool that can help carve out those hard to reach places or help shape any wood workers project. Here at Shannon Guitars, the dremel’s primary use is to carve out bevels, and to help smooth the wire holes in the pickup and control cavities to help relieve any stress on the delicate wiring in each guitar.

The Makita dremel seen here is a perfect dremel that’s easy to handle, and has the power to mow through most any material as long as the bit is strong enough. The bit in this dremel is a carbide bit capable of carving most anything tossed its way, fingers included, so be sure to always be aware of the dangers of your tools and wear the appropriate personal protective equipment, or P.P.E. such as safety glasses.
