The drill press is an excellent way to drill straight, and to a specific depth. The solidity of the tool allows more precision than a hand held drill and produces cleaner holes.
Not only can it be used for drilling, but also can be used as a mock hand press. With the right end tool locked in the chuck, it can press frets, dots, pickup pole pieces, and much more.
This particular drill press used here at Shannon Guitars is available at most any hardware store at a reasonable price. (At time of this writing.) Recommended upgrades are a key less chuck, and a larger table.
